I have given up of using globe. I was initially happy having my own prepaid wireless connection saving me from the waiting for the internet connection in the house that I won’t be able to use. Unhappily, that enthusiasm easily went away when Globe is only coverage to me with GPRS connection and I can only surf sites at speeds slower than dial-up speeds. I Wasted money for a connection that hangs and automatically charged 5 pesos. plus the device which I bought for almost 5 thousand pesos. Why prolong the agony. I bought Smart Bro prepaid kit and am contented with it. I thought that was the end of the prepaid kit story.

My niece got her new Personal Computer and needed an internet connection, though my sister preferred a DSL connection but PLDT DSL takes a decade to install Internet connection in our Area (they only install DSL connection for business purpose, and I don’t know why?).  There were many offers went to us. One suggested Sun Broadband then but I am a bit doubtful with Sun knowing they have low connection in our place but in some thus. The other one suggesting Globe Postpaid Broadband with Phone line included, but there are lots of complain from my neighbor about the services they provided. So it might be another marketing tactic that we get easily fooled with. Im suggesting my sister that i’ll lend her my spare prepaid internet device while waiting for the DSL thing. Abruptly, my sister bought my niece a Sun Broadband Wireless stick without noticing me (maybe she got stuck with those marketing hocus focus plus my niece pressuring her to get one immediately. I told them that an online friend mentioned me about unlocking prepaid Broadband internet, to make it able to use other network provider in case the signal is low. I did some research if it’s possible to unlock my Globe Tattoo modem and use another provider with it. After going through links and pages, I finally found a forum that allowed me to use my Globe Tattoo device with another provider. Here are the steps

1) Go to a Smart wireless Center or Sun Shop, buy a Wireless Broadband SIM card for only 50 pesos. This is pre-loaded with 5 hours internet. Since it would be bitin, buy also a 100 Wireless Broadband Prepaid card. Indicate that you’re looking for the Wireless Broadband Prepaid card.

2) Know your device made and IMEI. That information can be found at the back of the modem or in your software, go to Tools Diagnostics. You will see the device IMEI there.

3) Go to this site. Provide your IMEI and Huawei device model. Wait for minutes, hours (at most) for a reply for the unlock code for your device.

4) Insert the Sun sim card (or Smart) in the device. The device will prompt you for an unlock code. Provide the code you got from the forum. You have 10 tries before busting the device.

5) Once unlocked, You can now use any wireless provider aside from the despicable Globe Tattoo connection. Of course, the signal is there but you need to put the settings right? Here are the information you need to put in the prepaid setting:

Sun Wireless Broadband

APN: minternet

Dial Number *99#

Smart Buddy

APN: internet

Dial Number *99#

With this information, I am taking the risk that many people would follow this route and at the same time flood the network of Sun and Smart. Who cares, I am contented with the service and I guess others should experience the same too.

Goodbye Globe, Hello Sun and Smart!
