We’re all confused about, why during the typhoon Ondoy Navotas was not hit by flood badly while our neighbor cities were.
There is a lesson to be learned between Malabon (10-feet deep) navotas and malabon (knee-high flooding).
Malabon seems to be the worst hit by floods in the Camanava area with Barangay Potrero experiencing about 10 to 15 feet-deep floodwaters, posted four confirmed deaths, including a drowned 74-year-old woman and an elderly man who suffered from a heart attack inside an evacuation center. Two others remained missing. The flood problem in the city was also compounded when three of its dikes near the Tullahan River collapsed. The dikes were among those set to be rehabilitated under the Department of Public Works and Highways’ P5 billion Camanava Flood Control Project.

In Navotas City, the floodwaters only went up to knee-high level. a source said that Mayor Toby Tiangco grasp all of the city’s 24 pumping stations (BOMBASTIK) operated for 36 hours straight during the height of Ondoy’s onslaught.
“Before, we were always the worst hit by the floods. Our pumping stations helped us control the water. We were 80 percent clear of all floods by Saturday evening,” as per Mayor Toby Tiangco said.

I may not be there physically but my heart and soul suffered with all the victims of Ondoy and Peping. I am an OFW currently here in Qatar. I know how resilient Filipinos are, so I am positive that they will be standing proud and hopeful once the dark clouds are gone.
