Me and my Sweety watched the 2009 UAAP Cheer leading competition and it was fun. we went there in Araneta Coliseum, hoping to get a ticket. Viola! we got a Upper box A pass from a scalper for 600 pesos. The ticket is quiet expensive though the moment is worth much. atlast the FEU Tamaraws Cheering Squad is the champion. knowing that UP is hoping for their 3rd straight row winning but they loose to have it. Instead UP place in the second. and Ateneo got the 1st Place. Me and my Sweety is puzzled of why Ateneo got a place instead of UST? We all know that UST got the 5 straight row of winning prior to UP. Is it because FEU is the host of this year UAAP Competition? Let You decide by watching the Videos and leaving comments.
WINNER- Far Eastern University Cheering Squad
wondering why sarimanok is the concept of the FEU in cheer leading competition. till i remember the University Seal that consist the heraldic sari manok motif in full colors, projecting the nationalistic spirit upon the university was founded. and it also serve as the link between the past and the present… GO GO TAMARAW GO!!!!!
University of Santo Tomas Salinggawi Dance Troupe - Whats with the Warrior and the Tiger shield?
1st Placer- Ateneo Blue Babble Battalion- Goog Choice of Music, i enjoyed the “You Can’t Stop the Beat” part where they adapted the choreography of the Broadway Musical “Hairspray”
2nd Placer- University of the Philippines PEP Squad – Nice Concept and Choice of Music, Fantastic Routine
UE PEP Squad- Whats with the preempted Jeepney concept of UP? Please Explain.. ahihih and whats with the umbrella?… AGAIN! ahihihi
FEU and UP are the best! ADMU was an underdog since last year, now they are really the highlight of this year’s competition, for breaking the Elite 3 of CDC.. Congrats Ateneo! Keep it up!
no comment at FEU the best….nice job

What I have to say about the Top 4:
FEU – Cleanest execution, most discreet/littlest errors. Good new stunts and pyramids. Best formations as well. Pero some parts of the routine ay kopya sa routines ng UP at UST the past few years. This year’s host made a nice strategy of selecting non-participant judges, because these people, I assume, never really revisited the past competitions. Nice identity of sarimanok representing their logo. Needless to say, the host school chose this to be the logo of UAAP Season 72. Final score: 86.10
ADMU – Clean execution, with some little flaws. Most improved performance, getting better year after year. Medyo luma na rin ang stunts, pero fiercer routine than last year’s. Also showed the Eagle identity. Too much tribute to MJ though, what’s that got to do with school spirit? anyway, it’s their style, so be it. At aminin, may mga ginaya din sa past routines ng UP at UST. Hate the fact that the judges never knew they were copied. Final Score: 83.4
UP – Not so clean execution.. “Hari ng Sablay” ika nga ng music nila, most original music I should say. Sablay din dahil may jeep din ang UE, must have been some inevitable leakages. Non-conventional choreography, stunts and pyramids. Although formations weren’t so impressive, kasi parang scattered tignan most of the time. Music (State U-niversity, Ikot, UP Ang Galing Mo, Hari ng Sablay), Props (Bluebook, Ikot Jeep, Golden Dove logo of the UP seal.. transformed from the Ikot Jeep), Costume (UP Sablay-inspired, yung maroon-green-gold na parang sash, it’s what graduates wear sa grad pic, at sa ceremonies instead of the normal toga, it’s called Sablay just so you know), and dance steps (several Oblation moves, and the “aktibista” stereotype move) really showcased the UP identity.. that’s the main purpose of “Cheer”dancing. Originality, innovation, and creativity really remain their most lethal weapon. Score: 83.10
UST – Not so clean execution too. At long last, more new routines and stunts, less recycled ones. Appreciated it. Pinaka-emote… pinaka-may wow factor! But also had inconsistencies sa warrior theme nila when it comes to choreo. Not so impressed sa tiger shield props nung opening.. I thought it was kind of purposeless.. is it saying “Welcome” or “Surprise!”? isn’t it just too small for covering? I loved the fire effect of the textile props though.. fierily cool! Kakaiba ang eksena over-all, pero school identity was missing. To reiterate.. the most important factor of cheerdancing. In addition, medyo low din ang degree of difficulty when it comes to stunts and pyramids. Cute tignan, pero hindi sapat sa current standards ng cheerdancing. Focused more on theatricals rather than dynamics. Could be factors they finished just 4th. Score: 81
Results well-accepted.. Medyo pahiya lang ng konti ang UST crowd nang magsaya sila nung tawaging 3rd place ang UP, not knowing they placed 4th. hihihihihi! The Big Dome cheered for FEU when the champion was just about to be announced. Lesson: ‘Wag masyado Asadora. hahahaha! Check the net for bitter rantings of the Tomasino community. At least UP admits they’re Hari ng Sablay. Pride over imperfections… yearly na lang may nalalaglag. Haha! Nevertheless, UP Pep Squad still affords to stand out, be outstanding, and become the standard. And FEU Cheering Squad claims an unforgettable year of bragging rights as this is their first ever victory over USTe. Bawi Gawi? O Gawi Sawi? hehe joke. Still enjoyed Salinggawi Dance Troupe’s performance, one word for you, WOW! To them as well as the Ateneo Blue Babble Battalion, there’s always a first time… up to you to make it either the last time, or the first of a number of times.
