This morning around 8:30am The Tangos United Methodist Church has caught on fire. Many Facebook Members of the church couldn’t decipher what really happen. some says that the church is not really burned down, some says its totally burned.
What Is the Truth about this speculations?
Tangos United Methodist Church is the first United Methodist Church established by Juan and Pedro Pascual in 1900 at Navotas. The first evangelical service took place in Lucio Sanchez’s residence and 50 members of Nicolas Zamora were baptized in 1902. The present church was under the supervision of Bishop J.K. Mondul and Jose Gamboa in 1952-1965. Several buildings were made: Bahay Pastoral in 1949, Dr. Marvin Rader Memorial Junior Church in 1959, and changed to Florentina Dela Cruz Pascual Memorial Junior High in 1969, Educational Building in 1980 and Multi-Purpose hall in 1983. -National Historical Institute. This past few months the problem in the electricity arise after the rewiring and changing of electric post of Vicinity. the Church experience fluctuation in electrical supply and sometimes experience no power at all. Me too experienced it during the rehearsal of “Christmas is Forever” my Ipod Speaker and DVD Player just exploded when i put the device on the socket. prior to that we experienced Grounds. Yesterday during the Pastoral Sermon the Mic went static then off. The church admin are aware about this concern as far as i know they are still raising fund to do a rewiring of the Main Sanctuary. Then the Tragic thing happened.
The Whole Sanctuary was engulfed. it started due to faulty electrical wiring Electrical Origin in the ceiling of the church near the altar. The wall near the old chapel was demolished to give way to all students and teachers in the school. Only the Piano of the church is the only thing that left, church men gathered to retrieve it during the fire. the Conference room was also damaged but the church people gathered to get all the important documents of Marvin Raider School. Everything inside the church are all burned including the pews.
As of now the Church Admin including the District officers are having a meeting of what the things should be done .
Tangos United Methodist Church has been known for having lots of mission church in the country. Now for the members it is time for us to help build again our own church.

I don't have all the details but let me just help in straithening out some…
The rewiring project was put on hold to prioritize the parking pavement repair to take advantage of the closing of main street. As of the last Council meeting, the BOT chairperson expressed that rewiring project will start by June. (Why it didn't start in June?…I still do not have the answer now) Hindi po nagre-raise ng funds, as far as I know, we have money. Parang nakakahiyang sabihin kasi sa "givers" ng church na we don't have money when in the financial report presented weekly to us, we do.
Another point, let us stop using "faulty electrical wiring" as the source of fire. Nakakahiya po tayo sa safety practitioners at electrical engineers. Matagal nang naka-install ang wiring ng church at hindi tamang isisi sa wirings which have stood the test of time. The correct technical term ng cause of fire is "electrical origin". The fire was of an "electrical origin" to complete the sentence. The wirings were ok, not faulty, the loading was the problem. We will be rewiring dahil nga hindi na tama ang design ng wirings sa load it is currently carrying.
But no use crying over spilled milk. Kahit na I am still in the mourning stage now, with what happened to the church, our faith pushes us to move forward. The Church Council could have done a lot to prevent the incident, yes.
I grew up in that church. My Mom, Fe Gorospe, was a Deaconess and my Dad, Benjamin Gorospe, was a choir member and both were active members of the church who had the living faith and applied it in their lives. The church was the site of many of my childhood memories. I can still remember the pews where we listened (or tried to listen without nodding off) to the sermons when we were kids. It's where we held MYF (Methodist Youth Fellowship) meetings, bible studies, Christmas presentation preparations, Plays, and choir practices among others. It's very, very sad to see the pictures of the inside of our church like that. But take faith. The physical church maybe burned, but the church itself, in the hearts and minds of its members live on. While we still have faith, no one can destroy Tangos United Methodist Church. Benjie Gorospe. 8/3/2009

My heart goes out to the TUMC family and grieve with you. I have fond memories in that place, as Food for the Hungry did plenty of activities with the mothers and children. But what made this church close to my heart are the people in it who gave much to share God's love to all who came through the gates of the church.

God bless the church family of TUMC.

This truly is a bad news, i was so sad, i felt like i couldn't breath when i heard this news, this church means so much to me, it means my whole life! when I was still a little girl living in the Philippines "tangos" that is, it was hard because my family didn't have a lot of money, we couldn't afford lots of things and that includes our meals at times.
My grandmother "Adoracion Trono" took me to church every given sunday, eventhough; there were times that i didn't want to go with her because my reason is " the pastor's sermon is so long and boring, it makes me want to go to sleep" but my persistent grandmother did not care for any of my excauses, she still draged me with her.
I grew up without a mother and a father, all i had was my grandparents " Ebeneser and Adoracion Trono", cousins, aunts and uncles, till i started going to sunday school, i thought cool ill get to meet lots of friends. Most of the kids at church were pretty advance so it was kinda hard for me to fit in, they could read and wright pretty good, on the other hand i didnt know how to read nor wright.
my grandparents were raising their own children and grandchildren too, so they they have lots on their hands, you get the picture. everytime i went to sunday school i didnt want to feel left out even though i didnt know how to read i still brought a bible with me, and one sunday i came home and i made my grandparents proud because i started reading the bible.
nobody thought me how to read, God tought me how!
i went to every sunday school we had, but i was loosing faith because i still didnt have any friends from church, untill one sunday Lory Joy Ablola came up to me and invited me to their house for a choir practice the "Angelic Choir" thats when i got to meet all of my good friends that i will tresure in my heart forever, im not going to mention any names, so i dont forget anybody and hurt anyones feelings.
well to make my long story short this church the TANGOS UNITED METHODIST CHURCH built and shaped me to the person that i am now a person that is God fearing and full of faith love and hope <3
