Today is August 1 usually some people says that August is the start of the ghost month. Many believes that this is the worst ill-fated month of the year. they experience bad luck during this month. business income is low, clients cancels transaction, and sometimes many believes that you should be just home to avoid accidents.

But where this beliefs come from?

We all know that there are several Chinese live all over the world. this beliefs is celebrated by Chinese people

In Chinese tradition, the fifteenth day of the seventh month in the lunar calendar is called Ghost Day and the seventh month in general is regarded as the Ghost Month (鬼月), in which ghosts and spirits, including those of the deceased ancestors, come out from the lower realm. During the Qingming Festival the living descendants pay homage to their ancestors and on Ghost Day, the deceased visit the living. -wikipedia.org

According to my Friend who believes in Feng Sui. The Hungry Ghost Month for 2009 will start at August 20 to September 18.

Things Must not do during the Hungry Ghost Month

• Be away from the Lake steams or any form of waterbody. don’t swim!
• Do not sleep with dishelved hair. Ghosts might mistake you for one of their own
• Most of the Ghost seek unlucky people by night. be home by night.
• Do not go to hospital or even get a surgery operation.
• Don’t dry your clothes outside the house by night, the ghost might be interested in fitting them. this could lead to illness or sometimes death.
• Do not wear Black Clothes. Ghost attracted to black just as God and spirit. that’s why priest wear black during the rituals.
• Do not travel.
• Do not Plant Crops.
• Do not Marry.
• Engagement is a no-no. it was thought in the past or even up to now that the women died unmarried and have no children to worship her. she could be the potential ghost bride. let out to the ghost month to seek for husband.
• Don’t Celebrate a person’s birthday.
• Do not buy a house.
• Do not buy a Car.
• Don’t capture grasshopper or dragonflies. as this animals are associated with the spirits.
• Do not decorate.
